Welcome to the South

Introducing.....The new look for my blog.  I decided that the old look was childish and unprofessional, so now I am going for a new theme and an attempt to make it seem like I'm a semi-adult (which we all know is false).  Also I still don't know about the title yet, so maybe that will change as I think of new ideas.

The Cumberland River, that runs through Clarksville
Ok now time for the fun stuff.  I am going to start blogging about my summer in the south! I am spending ten weeks in Clarksville Tennessee as I do an internship at a military recreation camp.  When I say military I mean Army, which is currently my favorite branch of the military.  Clarksville is located right outside of Fort Campbell, commonly referred to as "post" around here.  Fort Campbell is located half in Kentucky and half in Tennessee, so on a weekly basis I travel to and from Kentucky.  I will write more about my "army" life in a different post, for now let's talk about how much I LOVE THE SOUTH.

Here's Ten reasons why I love the South so far:
  1. Dunkin' Donuts
  2. Everyone refers to me as ma'am but with a cute accent so I don't feel old
  3. People are so nice when they drive.  If I am trying to turn onto a road and there's a lot of traffic someone will always let me in, with a smile and a wave
  4. Fireflies at night.  Correction, they call the lighting bugs, but same thing right?
  5. Everything is so flavorful.  There's no such thing as plain.  Well the plain here is equal to season on the west coast.  I ate fries at a fast food restaurant and they were so full of flavor my taste buds almost exploded. My taste buds are adjusting to the cultural.  No worries
  6. It's normal to wear cowboy boots to church
  7. Beautiful green trees and pretty rivers
  8. Thunder and lighting storms are so intense!  It's like a madhouse when it rains 9) The humidity makes it so I never need to use lotion
  9. Listening to people talk makes me feel like I'm either in "The Blind Side" or "Remember the Titans"
  10. The southern hospitality is incomparable.  I love it.
Honestly I am loving every moment of my southern summer.  I am hoping to explore as much as I can and take in every beautiful spot and moment.  Summer's are made for having fun and enjoying the outside, so hopefully I will be able to live my summer to it's fullest potential.  Since half the time for my internship I am paddling down rivers or doing something exciting I don't think it will be too hard to have the best summer ever.
