Deep in Muir Woods

Last weekend was my birthday and also National Public Lands Day, which translates to free day at National Parks. Well, I jumped at this opportunity to explore Muir Woods because usually, it is $10 a person for a day pass and Brennan and I are frugal people (sometimes). I planned the day out very well because there were many things I wanted to see in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area after we were done exploring Muir Woods. The evening before we left I made a power point Presentation and presented it to Brennan so he would have a clear picture of everything we were going to do. He's a business major and sometimes you just have to speak his language, through excel sheets and power points.  It took a lot of planning because we had to get parking reservations and work out all the timings right. no privy rooms or telephones, you had your breakfast in bed before, but you won't have it their anymore." ( Just in case you don't know this song )   There is too much truth to this song in my life right now.  Ok so I'm not really part of the army, but I am so involved in army life that sometimes I like to pretend.  However it's true, that I don't have a bathroom where I am staying, I have to share with other people, and I have almost no cell reception let alone wifi where I live, so basically the song tells the truth. Though there are are a few adjustments to make I love where I am staying and I love learning all about the army. The amount of information I have learned about the army is unquenchable.  I'm not quite sure where to start.  Maybe how they have acronyms for every single thing in the world.  Such as DONSA (Day Of No Scheduled Activities aka a holiday, so why we can't just call it a holiday is beyond me).  Also the army has days called ...

Forgetting about New Year's Resolutions and other New Year thoughts

I feel that this last week I've seen so many posts on social media about what goals people are setting as New Year's resolutions, and what they want to do to change their lives for the better. Two things crossed my mind when I scrolled through these posts. Number one, why does it take a new year for people to make goals? I guess I understand new beginnings and starting over, but if there is something that you want to change in your life, why do we have to wait for a new year or a new month? Why can't we just make the change daily? I'm sure there are some people who do try to set new goals throughout the year, I just wish it was more of a thing. We don't need to wait to change our habits, we just need the motivation and grit to make the changes daily, weekly or monthly.
