when breakfast becomes fish food

Can we just take a step back and realize how fast the summer is flying by? We've already been out here for five weeks! Next week we will be reaching our halfway point, that seems oh so crazy. Our California Adventure just keeps getting better each week. This week Los Altos was hit by a heat wave and we both almost boiled to death. Brennan had a fun week at work with conferences and outings while I was left to fry at my own job. Over the weekend we snuck to Monterey again and had another splendid Saturday! First, let's talk about Brennan's amazing week. He had a three-day conference at his work, with lots of meetings and breakout sessions and then fun party stuff. His work gave him breakfast every day and then in the evening he went out to dinner with his co-workers and then they also did finance team bonding activities. One night for their dinner they went to a restaurant/bar and Brennan had his first experience of watching everyone around him drink alcohol and practice...

Couldn't Get to Monterey so went back to Santa Fe

Well actually we could get to Monterey it's just that that song was in my head all day while we were in Monterey. We had a super fun Saturday in Monterey and surrounding area and a relaxing Sunday. We needed it because our week was packed full of work. I finally started my summer camp job and Brennan is kept busy with excel at work. The camp I work at is called Camp Galileo, basically, it's a camp where kids make art projects, science projects and play outside. They also get to do face painting and make lanyards (and when I say lanyard I mean those boondoggle things). They also sing songs and make up cheers for their group. It's the best of camp without having to stay in cabins and not shower. The camp is located about five miles from where we live so I get to ride my bike. It's a nice ride, not too hilly. The only problem is that I show up to work already covered in sweat and then I spend the next eight hours outside sweating and being hot. Then I hop back on my bike...

It's kooler in California

Wowy!  This week has been flying by, hence a later blog post! Last week was my last week of freedom before my job started on Saturday. We did some fun things, but mostly hung back and relaxed. We found a fun golf course and were hoping to go to the driving range, but alas it closed early the day we went so we ended up putting around. However, Brennan went back and golfed the whole course and really enjoyed a course with palm trees. We also went exploring for pickle balls courts, and couldn't find one, so we played pickleball at a tennis court and at the same park was a fun playground with swings surrounded by beautiful trees. It was a perfect park nestled close to our house. On Friday we celebrated the last day of my summer! I started my camp training on Saturday so on Friday night we went and got ice cream! We went to an ice cream sandwich place and both got cinnamon churro flavored ice cream, a very magical way to end summer.  Now that we are in the golde...

San Fran to the Cisco

What a week! It's crazy we have only been here for little over two weeks and we already feel like we've been here forever. This week when Brennan wasn't working we did some fun exploring outside of Los Altos and have just been enjoying the sun and enduring the crazy California traffic and road system. It was nice having a four day week! The week went by super fast! On Wednesday we decided to go out to San Francisco for the evening. I have been dying to go to Ghirardelli Square so that's just what we did. We took the Caltrain to the city and then hopped on a bus to get to the west side. It was a sketchy bus ride but it was a fun ride through the city and seeing the buildings and the different parts of the city. It was windy and chilly and there was close to no one at Ghirardelli Square. When we walked into the area Brennan saw workers handing out free samples so we walked into a shop and got some chocolate, then we went into another shop and got even more free chocolat...
