Our first week in California has gone by fast, but we are loving every second of it. We've fallen into more of a routine of things and enjoy exploring Los Altos. Brennan started his internship and is enjoying himself and I have been trying to stay busy until I start my job in a couple of weeks.

Brennan's first day! |
Brennan loves EA. He loves being part of a big company and learning about their finance things. Basically, he sits at a desk all day and makes models in Excel, sometimes he goes to meetings and sometimes he takes breaks and plays video games. Not too hard. He is getting along great with his boss and they probably think that Brennan is the best intern they've ever had. He really does enjoy diving deeper in finance and getting hands on experience. It really is a great opportunity for him.
Uncle Charlie (the person we are staying with) is out of town visiting family this week so we are left to tend the house. Which means water the plants and make sure nothing bad happens. Well here's the thing, Brennan and I can't even get a bamboo plant to grow (which apparently are supposed to be really easy) so I was a little scared when Uncle Charlie told me to take care if his array of plants. I have to water all of his plants outside which isn't too hard. However, I also have to use a soil moisture thermometer thing to check and see if the soil where his dahlias are planted need more water. So I have to stick the moisture meter in the soil of each plant and see if it says dry, moist or wet. Then add the appropriate amount of water. This is pretty much the most complex gardening I have ever done in my life. Hopefully, I don't kill the plants.
Uncle Charlie has a very nice, clean and organized house. It's not a huge house but everything inside of it seems very nice. The table has a glass top, and all the couches look beautiful but aren't very comfy. Also, all of the dinnerware look extremely nice and easy to break. There's no plastic around to use. It reminds me of this Junie B Jones book I read in elementary school when Junie goes to visit her friend Lucille at her mansion and ends up breaking her plate because she is used to cheaper things. So then she asks for plastic. Sometimes I feel that way. I have to get a nice bowl down from the cupboard to eat my organic frosted flakes in and then go to wash it, all the while hoping I don't accidentally drop it. Uncle Charlie also has cleaners come to his house once a week to clean it. Wow such a luxury, someone vacuumed our bedroom and cleaned our bathroom! Basically, the only wife job I do is cook dinner, or just warm up leftovers :)

Redwood Grove |
Los Altos is such a fun dainty little town. One night we walked around the downtown area and found a delicious ice cream store. The downtown is cute and full of local shops. We've also explored grocery stores. I took Brennan to Trader Joe's for the first time and he loves it. We just love getting organic everything. We also went to this super nice Safeway that has underground parking and an escalator for your shopping cart. We've also discovered fun parks. We explored a Redwood Grove preserve close to where we live and loved it. I also went running in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. Like I said, lots of fun parks and trails to discover! We are so excited to keep going on adventures!
Okay... my 7 year old self LOVED junie b jone books as well.... but who actually REMEMBERS the plot? Only Kacy.... hahah
